Question by wrknhrdngttnby: How often do credit cards send info to the credit reporting agencies?
I just paid off two cards in anticipation of applying for a loan. I’d like those cards to show up as zero balance on my credit report. How often are these accounted updated? Should I call them and ask them to send an update? How long will I need to wait for these to be recorded as zero balance. Thanks!

Answer by NM
Although I’m not sure how long it takes for credit card companies to report info., I do know that you tin most definitely name them and ask them to report it soon. The pip they can say is “no,” correct?I say go for it. Be proactive. And congrats on paying off your cards!

Question by mssexxynana43: What happens to credit cards debts when your parent dies?
If your parent dies what will happen to their credit card debts? Will the children have to pay it off? Plus their parent will In Canada now but has a two credit cards in the Niagara Falls, New York. Thanks!

Answer by bdancer222
While I don’t know Canadian law, my guess it is pretty similar to US in that the estate is responsible for the debts. Assets must be used to pay off the debts before being distributed to heirs. If there are not enough assets to cover the debts, the heirs do not inherit the debt.

Question by calstud4life: What credit cards are out there that don’t charge fees for using them in foreign countries?
I am going out of the United States this upcoming summer for 3 months and would like to have a credit card on me that I will be able to use in Europe without being hit with transaction fees. Does anyone know of a credit card company that issues cards without charging an exponential amount of interest or transaction fees?

Best answer:

Answer by BJ B
Capital One issues some cards that do not charge extra fees for international transactions. Credit Unions often issue cards that do not charge international fees either.Whatever card you travel with remember to contact the credit card issuer before you leave the USA to tell them when you are traveling and to what countries. Many issuers freeze your credit tease once they start noticing foreign transactions, especially in some countries, to prevent fraud.

Q&A: How can I protect my credit cards from magnets?

Question by chelsea: How can I protect my credit cards from magnets?
I recently bought a magnetic card case to carry my credit cards and it seems that the magnet is destroying my credit cards. I had a case exactly like this (same brand, same type) before and the magnets never did this before. Is there anything I can do?I already wrote the company that makes the card case and they were no help at all.

Best answer:

Answer by kennyk
I doubt the magnetic card case has a strong enough magnetic field to damage your cards. Typically, it would take a magnet of a several tesla to do any harm. Check the back of cards for scufs and scratches.

Question by Player: How do prepaid credit cards work to shop online?
I’m 14 and I’m wondering how prepaid cards work? Can I just go to CVS buy a $ 10 card with cash and then use it online or will they send me some additional bill. Do I have to activate the card myself or is it automatically activated when I buy it? I assume’t know much about credit cards. Is it like a Gift Card but you can use this card in any store compared to a gift card?

Best answer:

Answer by :)
they sell “giftcards” almost everywhere. they have visa, american express etc. make sure to buy a prepaid GIFTCARD because they dont have send you bills. they sell them in 10,25,50+ i think. but they charge a 5 dollar fee. so if you want a 25 giftcard then you’d probably end up paying 30 bucks. if you only want to order from one big name store like target or american eagle then you should go to their store and buy a giftcard because they dont charge you extra for their own giftcards. i hope you understand this:) oh and a visa giftcard is accepted where ever visa credit cards are accepted!

Question by kiwi753: What types of credit cards pays the customer for using the card?
Can you please include the types of cards that a 19- year- old can get. What I mean is, some credit cards are difficult to receive based on age etc. I have a credit card and I dont like that company and I am approximately to actually close the account, but I want another credit card..

Best answer:

Answer by Lee
Speaking from experience, there are quite a few of credit cards that offer money back… I’m just not exactly sure if companies have varying names for these types of credit cards. The card I have is from Citi Bank and the card is called “Citi Dividends.” The way mine works is that for each $ 100 that I charge I get $ 1 back. It isn’t much, but there is no annual fee for this card either. Also, after the “dividends” is up to $ 50, you can call or go on their website to request that a check be manicure. So, they’ll cut you a follow that you’ll receive within a week or 2 for exactly $ 50… No taxes taken out or anything. =) Hope that helps!

2.5 Million people to switch credit cards as interest costless periods end

(PRWEB) November 24, 2011

Analysis of industry data(3) by Sainsbury’s Credit Cards reveals that the typical balance transfer APR on teasing offering interest free periods rises to 18.2% APR once these expire. Similarly, the mean typical interest rate for teasing offering an introductory % interest rate on purchases is 18.% APR.(3)

The Sainsbury’s Credit Card offers Sainsbury’s shoppers with a Nectar card % APR for the first 12 months on all their shopping(1) and balance transfers (3% BT fee). The card has a typical APR Representative of 16.9% on purchases once the interest free period expires.

Stuart McKeggie, Head of Sainsbury’s Credit Cards said: “In total 7.9 million people told us they plan to take out a new credit card between October and September 2012, and 32% of these said it is because of their interest free periods ending on their existing cards. This is still clearly the main reason for taking out a new card, and for those that want to spread their costs, it can be a sensible financial planning option.
“Our Sainsbury’s Credit Card offers a very attractive interest free period on both balance transfers and purchases.”

In terms of where most of the new credit cards being taken out over the next 12 months as a result of interest free periods ending, half of those taking out a new card in the North East (49%) will do so because of this, 35% of those taking out a new card in the East Midlands will do so, and 40% of those in the South East.
