Credit Cards – pay off interest rates

June 10, 2010

Why do credit cards require monthly interest payments?

Eric S asked:

Why can’t there be at least one credit card that charges 0% interest, NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS, Unlimited credit line. Then you can’t max out, you never have to make a payment, and you can borrow however much you want or need.

Why can’t credit card companies give Americans credit cards like these to poor people and then have the government lend money to the banks if it comes down to that?

Because interest is how their profit is made. No interest no profit.

We already have this: it’s called welfare for individuals; it’s called TARP funds for businesses

One thing wrong with your premise: the government doesn’t have any money to lend. They borrow it all from the Federal Reserve. That’s where all the bailout money came from.

    No monthly payments……good one.

Are you serious? Why do you think no one offers such a card? Because no one would ever make a payment, EVER. What you’re describing is free money, which doesn’t exist.

Unless you’re on welfare. And that system needs reform, I’ll tell you that.
