What is bad about credit card gift cards?

Can my husband pay off my credit cards before filing for bankruptcy?

However, he just received a personal injury settlement that is enough to pay off my credit cards and save my credit. If he does file for bankruptcy it wouldn’t be for a few months from now at least. Can he use the settlement money for this purpose or will this hinder his bankruptcy proceedings?
